Winter is coming and that means the air is getting colder, the sun is rising later, and sleeping in late under warm, heavy blankets is getting more tempting. If the only time for you to workout is in the morning, it’s important to not be lured into hitting that snooze button. Studies show that hitting the snooze button is actually worse than simply sleeping later and waking up when you are comfortable. According to the thethiry/brydie.com/snooze-button, hitting snooze can actually make you more tired, and will result in less energy throughout the day.
These days, we need all the energy we can get, that means not letting the cold weather keep you from missing out on an awesome workout! Here are some tips on how to wake up a little easier and stay motivated.
1. Get into bed early and set your alarm so you get eight hours of sleep. A good trick is to keep your alarm out of arm’s reach so you can’t hit the snooze button. Force yourself to get up and walk over to turn off your alarm, that way you’re already awake and up to start your day.
2. Make your morning easier by prepping the night before. Have your gym bag ready to go the night before, that way you don’t have to rush in the morning and possibly forget anything. My favorite way to wake up is with an automatic coffee maker that brews on its own timer. Waking up becomes suddenly easy when all the work is already done for you!
3. Exercise daily! Even if it’s only for 10 minutes. Exercise is proven to help you sleep better, which means waking up will be that much easier after a good night’s sleep!
