At the Dedham Health & Athletic Complex, group exercise is HUGE! Because we believe so strongly in the benefits of group exercise, our fitness staff continually puts together a diverse schedule to fit all of the club members’ needs. We have classes that touch upon aerobic conditioning, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, injury rehabilitation, and the mind-body connection. The schedule is updated on a 3 month cycle and new classes are always being added! By participating in group exercise at our club you will…

All group classes need a minimum of five participants to run, so bring your friends!

With over 70 classes per week, we are sure to have something for you! Here are descriptions of our most popular classes:
For Cardio
TRAIL MIX: A 30-minute treadmill class designed for all levels. Work up a sweat to the up-beat music during your up-hill journey!
AQUA FIT: Aquatic based exercise class focusing on toning and cardio to
mamimize your workout and minimize stress on the joints. 60-minutes
CYCLING: An intense cardiovascular workout on our stationary “Livestrong” bikes; easy to follow and designed for all intensity levels. 60-minutes.
First time? We encourage you to start with 30-minute cycling
ZUMBA®: a fusion on Latin and international music and dance themes that create a
dynamic, exciting and effective workout. 60-minutes
CARDIO SCULPT: Burn it off...Tone it up within this interval class. A
different focus every time. We offer a 45-minute and a 60 minute version.
KICKBOXING: Punches, Kicks & Drills! Get ready to sweat in this high-energy class as you tighten and tone from head to toe. 30-minute
STEP INTERVAL: Join us for a high-energy, fun filled workout! The
platform height is adjustable makes this class suitable for all fitness levels. A fat burning guarantee. 60-minutes
STRIDE: It stands for Strength, Toning, Real, Intense, Dance,
Exercise. You’ll be “working it” as you find your inner dancer. All levels are welcome.
Experience the fusion of hip hop and total body conditioning! 60-minutes
For Strength:
BODYPUMP ®: The original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your muscle groups by using the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts, and curls. Your choice of weights. You will get the results you came for and FAST!
ABS EXPRESS: Fire up your core! Tighten your stomach in 20-minutes with these traditional and non-traditional movements for your abdominals! Designed for all levels. Friday night is a 30-minute version with bonus cardio.
GOLDEN SNEAKERS: A 45-minute mix for those in their “Golden Years” consisting of cardio, strength and flexibility exercises. This class will keep you healthy and strong.
ABS & ARMS: Need we say more? Tone your abs and arms in this
30-minute blast!
BUTTS –N- GUTS: Tighten & tone your core and glutes 45-minute class! Train those hard-to-target areas with easy-to-do movements
For Mind-Body:
BODYFLOW ®: The yoga, tai chi, pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music that create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony an balance. 60-minutes
HATHA YOGA: Gently stretch your body, calm your mind, & renew your spirit. You’ll practice yoga postures and breath work. Ideal for all levels. 60-minutes
MAT PILATES: Your muscles will work in harmony with your breathing. The goal? A lean physique, proper body alignment and balance! STOTT PILATES a contemporary,
anatomically based approach to Joseph Pilates’ original exercise method. Its
exercises safely deliver optimal strength, flexibility, and endurance without adding bulk. 60-minutes
POWER YOGA: A challenging system of physical and mental exercise that improve flexibility, balance and whole-body strength. Also emphasizes proper breathing, muscle stretching and special postures to help manage stress. 60-minutes
GENTLE YOGA: Perfect for beginners. Spend your time learning and practicing yoga
techniques without having to “turn into a pretzel! 60-minutes
YOGA FLOW: Enjoy the music as you flow through this class! This class incorporates yoga poses, abdominal exercises and flowing movements choreographed to upbeat music. 60-minutes
TAI CHI FLOW: An experience unlike anything on our schedule. Spend 30-minutes
slipping into Qi Flow, learning the ancient art of Qi Gong, and experiencing gentle Tai Chi movements and meditation. Good for body and mind. Come prepared to move.
VINYASA YOGA: Stretch and strengthen muscles, stimulate and encourage proper functions of internal organs. Gain emotional & spiritual well–being. Perfect for all levels. 60-minutes
In our mat pilates classes, we train your you muscles to work in harmony with your breathing. The goal? A lean physique, proper body alignment and balance. Mat pilates classes are included in your regular membership.
For more advanced pilates training, including reformer, we partnered with C2 Pilates. In their onsite studio they offer a contemporary, anatomically based approach to Joseph Pilate's original exercise method. Its exercises safely deliver optimal strength, flexibility and endurance without adding bulk. Classes through C2 Pilates are not included in membership.
