I like to keep my workout moving and I know that many of you do too. I have several exercises with cables that will make your work out go by faster, as we can all sometimes feel pressed for time! I would like to show you how to do your biceps and triceps at the same time. You can only really do this with a Strive machine, like the one we have in the fitness center, because it can be adjusted up and down or left to right (up and down are labeled A to N and left to right are labeled 1 to 9). For the triceps, take one arm of the machine and adjust it all the way so it is pointing up to level A then attach a single rope attachment. Next, for you biceps, take the other arm of the machine and bring it down to level N, then attach a handle grip to it. Rotate the arm so that both of the arms are on setting 4. Finally to perform the exercise you use both arms, one you pull up as a bicep curl and the other you pull down as a triceps pull down. Doing these exercises at the same time is great for coordination and strength throughout the upper body and core. Any time you are working your arms you want to stand up tall and make sure you have good posture, meaning you are not slouching over and your shoulders are rolled back and drawn down. Furthermore for this exercise make sure you keep your elbows by your sides. And remember, prior to trying any new exercise, be sure you have the medical clearance to do so. Feel free to ask any of the DHAC exercise physiologists if you need a demo or a form check!
