With the 2013 upon us, all of us in one way or another probably made resolutions left and right.
Weather they were goals for family, career or health we are all ready to make changes…2013 will be the year that I (___blank___). Then what…we never follow up.
I made a pact with my class participants this year. I asked them to bring in a goal for themselves and if they felt comfortable sharing it with me, I promised them I would help them get there with good ole’ fashion accountability.
For example, “I would like to run three miles by March” will be stated as the following…”I WILL run 3 miles by March”. I make each of my members say it out loud and own it.
I am a firm believer in positive thought. If you really want something, write it out, make a vision board, be very specific with what you want, visualize it down to the very last detail.
This year myself and two of my friends will be checking in at the beginning of the week to make sure that we are checking off our 2013 lists. Did you take that Yoga class this week like you said you would? Did you follow up with that client that you have had your eye on? It’s going to be a simple answer, either yes or no. You then have to live with that answer for the week.
Accountability – it really does work. Ask a friend – or me – to help you stay focused on these goals!
