As the Aquatics Director here at Dedham Health, people are always asking me for advice on swimming laps. One of the most common questions I am asked is “What is the best stroke for lap swimming?”
My personal opinion is the breaststroke. It allows me to swim more laps without getting as tired as if I swam freestyle or butterfly. But I know that everyone is different, so I’ve done some research and found an article that gives some insight into the pros & cons of each of the four competitive strokes.
Now it’s time to take the next step…figure out which stroke is the most comfortable for you and gives you the most efficient workout. Go get in the pool!!
