The Box or Step is used in many forms of exercise training. It is a tool is to help improve power, strength, speed, aerobic training, and flexibility. Many exercises using a step are considered Plyometric Exercises. Plyometric refers to activities that enable a muscle to reach maximal force in the shortest possible time.
Body weight exercises on the step incorporate major muscle groups and require coordination. By adding some functional Box or Step exercises into your exercise program you can improve balance and coordination for everyday activities as well as improve athletic performance.
Major Muscles Used: Front and back of your thighs including quadriceps, hamstrings, hips, and glutes Support Muscles Used: Calves, abdominals, lower back, and obliques.
