My name is Lillie, and I’m the Northeastern Co-op. You would figure I’d be a fitness guru. But, when I first came to DHAC, all I knew was how to use some of the cardio equipment and one or two of the weight machines.
But, since then, I’ve learned how to use just about everything! How? Every day I would ask the Fitness Manager On Duty – we call them FMOD’s – to teach me something new. At first I thought I was being annoying, but I soon learned that that is what they are there for!
Whether it was critiquing my form for squats, teaching me how to do bicep curls on the pulley system, or other exercises, the FMOD’s were always patient and helpful.
Of course, this didn’t happen overnight. Slowly but surely, I soon expanded my fitness regimen to include all sorts of activities I had never done before.
So, still think you can’t try something new? Think again! If I can do it, so can you. Try new exercises to work all different parts of the body. Ask the FMOD on duty to show you how to target a particular area or just how to try that supported pull-up machine.
What new activities would you like to try?
